Muralist and designer Timothy B (timothyb_art) painted this towering bicycle boy in just over a week in October 2020. With an assist from another Oakland artist, Tiffany Rahmati, he transformed a crumbling, graffiti-scarred building into a source of pride and joy for appreciative neighbors.

 "I look at the wall, and the ideas just take off," Timothy says of his design inspirations. 

The commission in West Oakland is loosely based on a friend's photograph.

 "This little kid reminds me of me," he says. "I just wanted to ride my bike.”

The mural, “Kid Future,” must be enjoyed now. If all goes as planned, the building owners will demolish the structure sometime in the next two years and put up apartments.
